Bio.Drift
The biodegradable drift buoy

Drift buoys are used in marine research to collect various measurement data such as ocean currents and water temperature from the ocean. These data are permanently transmitted to a satellite until the integrated battery no longer supplies the buoy with energy. The drifting buoys then remain in the ocean as waste. This information emerged from the exchange with the Helmholtz Center for Ocean Research GEOMAR.

The buoy body is made of the compostable material from Golden Compound, which, due to its plastic-like properties, protects the technology inside the buoy from moisture. The depth sail, which ensures water resistance, and other details are also made of biodegradable materials. This means that the Bio.Drift drift buoy decomposes at the end of its lifetime and does not cause any further pollution to the environment.
